How to Check Your Map Type / Version:
- Press the Nav button on the iDrive, then select Options and press Navigation System Version, where you will see something like: “ECE BMW 1.5.20 Road Map Europe PREMIUM 2009-2”.
- If your car has premium but is made before 03/2010 you will need a firmware update from BMW to be able to update using USB stick

Installation:
- Insert the USB and follow on-screen prompts (FSC code required).
- Keep the engine running or drive during the update (typically 60–120 minutes).
- Do not remove the USB or switch off ignition until completion.
